Scamming

I, like a lot of people, get crazy e-mails and spam every single day. It never ends. All you need to do is put your e-mail address out on the internet so you can agree to get people's newsletters, updates about their products, and anything else that you might be interested in.
Before you know it, people from the four corners of Earth are bugging you about things you have no interest in and never asked for, and it is difficult to figure out just who sold out your e-mail address. This is one of the facts of being a cyber-citizen of the last great frontier of freedom that we call the internet, and we label such e-mails as these "spam." This is also why you should use disposable email addresses. When one starts getting spammed, simply throw it away. I used to live in Minnesota, and I've been to Austin, along Interstate 90, and have seen the Hormel factory, where Spam is made. This is not the "spam" we are talking about, however. It's been around much longer than e-mail spam, and Hormel now gets a bad reputation because of it. There are a lot of people around the world who were never taught the basics of business or finance, or how to make money for themselves without relying on someone else to make it for them with a job. I'm one of them. Those who are interested in such things can seek more information about these topics and earn a degree in such studies, but we are almost never voluntarily taught the basics about money, business, finance or accounting. All most people were ever taught was that you get an education, a college degree, and a good paying job where you receive a paycheck for making money for someone else. |
Hopefully a person is able to do all of this by the time they are 30, but it would be a big help if all people learned the basics about running their own business. What does a person do if the job they once enjoyed as a career gets phased out by a recession?
No one teaches you how to run your own business unless you specifically ask someone how to do it. Many people, despite knowing almost nothing about it, force themselves to become entrepreneurs. Some succeed, but many more fail. Those who do fail can become desperate and may turn to spam as a way to make some money, licitly or illicitly. Children and teenagers do not tend to think much about what they will do after high school except maybe plan for college. They figure they have a good long while to live and they don't think about retirement. It certainly does not dawn on the average ten year old that they won't get to live forever. When you begin working as a teenager, assuming you're not independently wealthy, you have to work 50 years to make it to retirement. Seems like a long time, right? Well, no, not really. Most people spend one-quarter to one-third of their lives simply sleeping. If we assume that there are 21 working days in a month, then working 8 hours a day will net you approximately 100,000 hours of work in 50 years. This number of hours is cut down by holidays, vacations, illnesses, and just not being able to get to work for one reason or another. Whenever teenagers begin working is the time to begin saving for retirement. All any kid needs to do is set aside 10 percent of every paycheck, save that money, not spend it, and get it to be a habit throughout life. It helps to invest some of that money in gold, silver, and low risk mutual funds.
